About
30 Campus Road Red Hook, NY 12504
(845) 758-7179
Comprising over 1,000 acres along the historic Hudson River, the Bard Arboretum serves as both a place for enjoyment as well as a living classroom. The campus is defined by a dramatic natural landscape of forested bluffs and ravines. Hardwood and evergreen forests line the stream corridors that wind their way through campus to the Hudson River.
In addition to this natural setting, the character of Bard is defined by the historic farms and estates on campus: Ward Manor, Blithewood, and Montgomery Place. Blithewood and Montgomery Place are particularly superb examples of Picturesque-era landscapes for which the Hudson River Valley is well known. The open spaces on campus reflect these estate environments (arboretums, lawns, allees, and formal gardens), as well as the agricultural heritage of the region (farms, orchards, and pastures/meadows. The landscape contains many 200-year-old trees and is part of the 32-mile Hudson River National Historic Landmark District. The public is welcome dawn to dusk.
